This is a requested post from one of my lovely subscribers on YouTube.  She requested that I do a wear to work lookbook.  Initially when I saw this request I laughed to myself because I basically wear the same thing to work every week...LOL  Most mornings I just cannot be bothered, but I thought it would be a good idea to show you all some of the basics that I think every corporate woman or teacher should have in their wardrobe.  The next time I do post about career wear, it will focus on how to incorporate color and accessories into your workwear.  This post is strictly about the basics...those items that will really help you get dressed quickly in the morning and will give you a polished look all at the same time.

In my opinion, there are five things that every business woman should have in her closet: a pencil skirt, a great fitting pair of trousers, a black blazer, a large tote, and a multi-purpose top.  These are items that you can mix and match with other pieces in your wardrobe.  When you do this, you are really maximizing your wardrobe and getting the most out of the clothing that you already have.  Adding a cute tote is key on my list because I really like my school bag to be fashionable.  My Zara bag has been through a lot and it is definitely time for me to replace it.  This bag is awesome because it works as a way for me to tote all of my junk to work, and then it still transitions well into night.  It is great to have those statement items in your closet, but I always take a survey of my wardrobe to ensure that I have those foundational and classic pieces that are so essential.  What are some must-haves that you think the professional working woman should have?

  2. I'm the same way I wear the same things to work every week in different ways lollllllll!! I think a pussy bow blouse is a must have for every working woman as well and at least one scarf that can break up the monotony of basic looks.

  3. Looking good! Love the skirt with the wedges! Shoes, shoes, shoes!! Nothing can make or break a work outfit like shoes. They can also help you incorporate color and add a little edge if you feel like your outfit needs a little sumthin-sumthin without going overboard.

  4. My work wear is so eclectic that I often have trouble finding things to wear in my normal life. It's like I take a break from fashion on the weekends...But cute flats and matching bags are definitely a staple in my closet right now.

  5. Love this post! Love the looks! I definitely agree with your must-haves. For me, a black dress and a white, button up top are definitely two of my key elements in my closet. Plus, they can be worn outside of work too which really help me.

  8. Those must have's that you mentioned are right on. I always feel like I never have enough work clothes *when I actually had a job* because I always wore the same thing over and over again. I didn't want to be TOO loud with my clothing because people start hating LOL. However, I think it can be done tastefully!
