I learned that today would be the
48th anniversary of the assassination of Malcolm X
from fellow blogger A Thick Girls Closet, when she asked me to honor this day buy wearing all black as a collaboration with her (you know that was an automatic yes for me). I may not agree with all of his views, but one thing I do appreciate about Malcolm X is his tenacity and ability to reinvent himself with a new way of thinking. He went from proclaiming that people of other races were terrible to truly understanding the meaning of love and brotherhood. This is kind of where I am at in life...eager to learn, change, and grow. Even though I have read Malcom X's autobiography with my classes before, this really gave me a chance to reflect on Black History Month and how important it is to study history. I appreciate A Thick Girls Closet for selecting me to join her in this collaboration, so make sure that you go check her out!
