Styling High-waist Harem Trousers

harem trousers ~ New Look (you can find a similar pair here), white shirt ~ Ashley Stewart, necklace ~ JC Penny's, pumps ~ Libby Edelman, leather clutch ~ Lucky Brand

Lately, I have developed a love for the harem style.  This is the second pair of brand new harem pants that have been sitting in my closet for months!  The style of these trousers are different from my previous post, when I am wearing cropped harem pants because they have a more structured fit.  Today, I was finally inspired to pull them out and wear them.  This style of pant can be tricky for curvy plus size women to pull off, so I think this is why I waited so long to wear them, but I absolutely adore them!

The trousers feature a high-waist, so I immediately knew that I wanted to tie up a white button-down shirt, for a cropped look.  My vision was to keep this look simple and chic by letting the printed trousers be the star, and I added a multi-layered chain necklace for a little flair.  So what are your thoughts about the harem style and my look?

Bodycon skirt ~ Forever21

Top ~ JC Penny's

Clutch ~ thrifted, sandals ~ Zara

FACE action:-)

Statement necklace ~ Citi Trends

I have recently developed a love for snakeskin print this spring.  Many people would not wear a statement necklace with a bold print like snakeskin, but to me the pairing was perfect.  You may not know this about me, but I love gaudy jewelry.  I use to wear a lot of statement pieces a couple of years ago, but then I started to like a more simplistic look.  Well, I am bringing gaudy back because I absolutely loved this look. Thank you so much for stopping by.  Stay fabulous:-)

Sophisticated Casual

skirt ~ Forever21, Shirt ~ Kmart, sandals ~ Target, leather bag ~ Lucky Brand

Today I attended the Harambee Festival, an annual African cultural event.  I am very much into floral prints right now, so I knew that I wanted to wear this floral print skirt to the festival.  My initial plan was to pair the skirt with a tank top, but I decided to add a touch of class by wearing a white button-down shirt.  Every woman should have one! You can pair a shirt like this with anything, skinny jeans, bodycon skirts, or shorts.  It really works with every type of outfit.

My husband expressed to me that he thought I looked kind of "dressy" for a festival, but to me this is casual.  I'm not really a t-shirt, jeans, and sneakers kind of girl. I explained to my husband that my outfit was sophisticated casual, and off to the the festival we went!

Thank you all so much for support and the love!  I have so much fun interacting with you on Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook!  Stay fabulous:-)
